The Playstation 4 Slim

Yesterday some news broke of a Playstation 4 Slim model had been sold on Gumtree. Not a lot was known at this time about whether or not it was real or just another very good 3D printer hoax. Several sources have emerged which have given rise to the authenticity of this leak. The images you can see in this post are apparently photos of the unit that was leaked and sold and they look very real. There is even a video around (see below) that shows the unit appear to turn on and boot up which shows that it's not just a fake.

Now, I would like to take a step back for a moment and play the devil's advocate and suggest that there is still a small chance that this is not real. Although I am pretty convinced of its authenticity, due to Sony not announcing this officially, I still have a small amount of doubt. Sony did official announce that the NEO will exist, there was never even any small mention that a slim model was coming so I will keep on this until it's confirmed by Sony themselves.

As you can see from the image above, the so called slim version of the PS4 isn't much smaller when it comes to its footprint, rather its size reduction comes in the form of its height or thickness. It doesn't really look like you will be saving any space with this version of the slim, but then again the original wasn't that big to begin with.

The suggested slim model features a rounded edge design instead of the sharp parallelogram like shapes of the original model. The slim version also looks like the optical out port has been removed from the rear of the console. It can't really be seen in these photos if the optical port is gone altogether or if it has been moved to another part of the console. Should this one have no optical out, it might bring serious issue to those that have set their surround sound systems up to use it, or have certain branded headphones that require the optical port to function.

Well for now, it's just an apparent leak with a lot of evidence backing its legitimacy but I want to hear it from the horse's mouth so to speak. Check back here for updates as more information arises about this new iteration of Sony's market killer console.
