A New Game by the Creators of This War of Mine

Frostpunk is a new game that is being developed by 11 Bit Studios, the same team responsible for This War of Mine and the Anomaly series. Frostpunk is a brand new IP set in a universe that has been built from the ground up to house this new idea for a video game.

Although Frostpunk is a new IP, it will still remain true to 11 Bit Studios philosophy of bringing emotion-driven games that give a new perspective on well known themes and genres.

Frostpunk is supposedly the developers biggest and most complex project to date. It is said to be a game made for people that are looking for a fresh and challenging experience.

"The game is set in an ultimately frozen world where people have developed steam-powered technology to oppose the overwhelming cold. Steampunk was our starting point but we wanted to make it believable and relevant. It was crucial for us to make it more than just a visual theme. We wanted it to make sense as a logical and reasonable path the society would take in pictured circumstances"

The game play will encompass decision making and a thoughtful morality system that will make you question your decisions within the game. Frostpunk will cross over video game genres utilising strategy and management elements while its core revolves around empathy and decision making rather than optimisation and resource management which is something that we have seen in previous games by this studio, and a lot of other games on the market.

"This is a deeply serious game created for a mature gamer. Looking back at This War of Mine, we're pushing boundaries even further, but we're not pointing at reality in the same fashion. We're putting human nature under a microscope to ask about what happens when people need to stay alive."
- Creative Director Michal Drozdowski.

Frostpunk is expected to launch in 2017 and there is a lot more publications promised before then to open up our eyes a little more on what the game will be like. This is definitely an interesting premise and hopefully 11 Bit Studios can deliver a meaningful experience like This War of Mine with this ambitious task.
