Troll and I: Exclusive Dev Interview

Troll and I is an upcoming video game developed by Spiral House and published by Maximum Games for Windows PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The expected release date is set to the 21st of March 2017.

We have been fortunate enough to have been able to ask the team members from Spiral House to answer a few answers before the release date about some of the aspects of the final game. A special thanks must be sent out to the team at Spiral House for offering their time so we could bring this interview to you.

How many people have been working on Troll & I?
Internally, we have a team of 14 people, a small team with big ideas and lots of ambition. During development, we also hired external resources to help out in various aspects of development so the numbers went up and down.

How long has Troll & I been in development for?
‘Troll and I’ was in development for approximately two and a half years.

What enhancements will the Playstation Pro include?
No specific enhancements, apart from whatever natural benefit the Pro gives the player.

Will Troll & I solely be single player or are there coop options?
Troll and I features single player AND couch co-op. In co-op, one player controls the Troll, while the other controls the boy. Very few games offer this today and we thought it was a great opportunity to bring this back on line and add a bunch more fun to the game. It really works too.

Can you give us an overview of the story in Troll & I?
Otto, a small boy living in the Scandinavian wilderness flees his home when a wealthy businessman sends a team of hunters to track down Trolls, and creates a massively destructive explosion near his village.

The explosion, intentionally created to flush out the Trolls, devastates swathes of landscape, including Otto’s village, and is successful in its goal.

The boy and Troll flee for their lives amidst flames and mayhem, but their lives are about to collide when they stumble upon each other. With a shared goal and enemy, they embark on a journey to find a home, and in doing so, form an unlikely bond and friendship.
