The Scorchbeast Coming to Sydney!
On 10th November – just four days
before the official release of Fallout 76 – join four up-and-coming engineers as
they achieve flight upon one of the most feared creatures of the
post-apocalyptic world of West Virginia, the
Scorchbeast!
At this year’s Red Bull Flugtag, a team from the University of
Newcastle’s School of Engineering will rid the sunny shores of cataclysmic evil
as they glide the beast away from the sanctity of civilization, rewriting
aviation history in the process.
Flugtag challenges the brave and brainy to
design, build and pilot home-made flying machines off a 6-metre high flight
deck in hopes of soaring into the wild blue yonder. This year, teams are judged
on three criteria: flight distance, creativity of the craft and showmanship
with Bethesda’s courageous team, dubbed the ‘Vault Boys’, to consist of:
- Jack
Piercy: 2nd year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of
Newcastle. 20 years old and originally from Canberra, ACT. Enjoys working
on his Datsun 1200 Ute and trips to the hardware store.
- Jackson

Newcastle. 19 years old from Kurri Kurri, NSW. Enjoys motor sport and
fantasy football.

Newcastle. 19 years old from Newcastle, NSW. Enjoys playing and watching
football, and live music.
