26 Games for 2026
The new year has begun and with a new year comes a new sense of wonder and what might be. 2026 is so far looking to be a banger for gamers white some big titles confirmed, rumoured or already on the way!
With that in mind I have put together a list of the 26 titles we are most excited for!
Check out the below in no particular order.
GTA VI
Yes we had this at the top of the list last year and it has been delayed not once but twice since then. Now slated for a November release. The hype is starting to feel a little strained on this one. If they delay again it won’t hurt the release, it is too big, but the internet is a noisy, angry place…
Code Violet
3rd Person action horror game. Playing as Violet Sinclair you will need to fight your way out of Aion Bioengineering Complex through dinosaurs and hostile forces.
There has been some push back against the devs' reason for keeping it a PS5 exclusive “butt” this one looks to be a bit of fun. Coming in January from Teamkill Media.
Cairn
Described as an atmospheric “survival climber.” Take on the role of Aava who aspires to become the first person to summit Mount Kami. Discover secrets and make sacrifices along the way to achieve your dream. Coming January to PS5 and PC from The Game Bakers.
High on Life 2
The Gatlians are back for another interstellar romp. After saving humanity in the original it’s time to use your bounty hunter skills and save your kidnapped sister. Squanch Games is still at the helm, tweaks have been made to the way you talk to the weapons and the feedback has been listened to and implemented for this time out. Due to release mid February on PC, PS5 and coming to Game Pass if you’re still forking out for that.
Reanimal
Tarsier Studios the original creators behind the first two Little Nightmares are back with their most ambitious and horrifying title yet. You play as a brother & sister who go through hell to rescue their missing friends. Explore by land and sea on your own or with a friend. Reanimal is due mid February and will be available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and the Switch 2.
Resident Evil Requiem
Probably the biggest release that personally I am looking forward to. RE is one of those series that just keeps going from strength to strength and this next iteration looks to step it up even further. A new protagonist joins the series investigating mysterious deaths at a hotel. Be prepared for more heart stopping moments that stay with you long after the credits roll.
Coming end of February on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and the Switch 2.
Code Vein 2
Bandai Namco always bring quality and their next title is sure to appease old and new fans alike. A third person action RPG where you fight against hordes of horrors and travel through time to save the world that was from what it has become. Coming end of January on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Nioh 3
Another third person action RPG this time from Team Ninja with Koei Tecmo publishing. Japan 1622, protagonist Tokugawa Takechiyo's is due to be appointed as the next shogun. His younger brother, consumed by hatred, falls into darkness unleashing a fierce horde of yokai in the process. Nioh is dropping on the PS5 and PC early Feb.
Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly
A ground up remake of the 2003 original, this Japanese-style horror follows twin sisters who must use the unique “Camera Obscura” device to escape an abandoned village haunted by vengeful spirits. Releasing in March on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and the Switch 2.
John Carpenter's Toxic Commando
An FPS from the mind of John Carpenter, team up with friends or go it alone in this horde shooter in order to save the world. You’ll need team work to tackle challengers and survive against overwhelming odds. Coming mid March PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
Crimson Desert
This one feels like it has been nearly here for years now and now it is just around the corner…crickets. It started off looking like it was an MMO but turned into a single player open world game set in a fictional medieval setting. Dynamic combat systems complimented by various settings and foes. This could be one of the biggest of the year. Coming to Mac as well as PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S keep an eye out in the lead up to mid March.
Mouse PI for Hire
This is my call for one of the most fun of the year. Hand-drawn rubber hose animation inspired by classic cartoons of the 1930s with explosive first person gunplay and a noir-fueled detective story. Players take on the role of PI Jack Pepper, navigating a city filled with danger and intrigue, solving cases, and uncovering secrets. Indie devs Fumi Games are partnering up with Aussie publisher Playside. Was a lot of fun at PAX a few years back, looking forward to this one releasing mid March on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and the Switch 2.
Pragmata
Capcom joins the list once again and this one is different and interesting. Core gameplay is a sci-fi action adventure shooter but there is a twist, the little girl on your back that allows you to hack systems that are trying to hinder your progress. Promising to engage both sides of your brain to complete puzzles and escape a lunar research station. The demo is a lot of fun and gives a taste of what to expect. Coming late April on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S.
Saros
An early contender for my game of the year. Housemarque having blown it out of the park with Retunal are telling a new story with the same gameplay style that combines bullet hell, third-person shooter, and roguelike elements. The story looks to unfold similar to the way Returnals did as you investigate the lost off-world colony on the planet Carcosa. This is going to be visually stunning with tight gameplay and an intriguing story. Sign me up! Coming to the PS5 only for now, get ready for an April drop.
007 First Light
IO interactive, best known for the Hitman franchise revives everyone's favourite secret agent James Bond with an all new stand alone story. Set during his early days of 00 life. There will be plenty of action and stealth sections along with a gripping story. Provided the recent delay goes to plan and they finish the polish we can expect 007 to burst onto our screens end of May. Coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and the Switch 2.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
Inspired by 86 years of Batman history TT Games jumps into another LEGO branded title with the core humour and story telling. Promising an experience of iconic moments spanning the Dark Knight’s legacy in film, television, comics and games. We’ve also heard combat will be similar to the Arkham titles. Coming May 29th I already have my Pre-Order in. Available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and the Switch 2.
Marathon
Not everyone is excited about this one but recent information and the pedigree of Bungie as a studio has it still firmly on the radar. It could be a defining step for the studio or the final nail. All is dependent on its reception and player count. A PVPVE Extraction shooter with a unique art style, time will tell on this one.
Coming end of March to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Now onto the rumoured list. These are the titles that don’t have a confirmed release date, but we’re expecting one any day now. While not a whole lot of information is available around when these are due to release, the hype is very much real.
The Blood of Dawnwalker.
Ex The Witcher devs. New story, open world with Vampires, sign me up.
Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival.
Hellraiser game with Clive Barker attached… yep. Not a great deal known just yet, expect more soon.
Carmageddon: Rogue Shift
If you have never played a Carmageddon game there is something special about them. Cars, speed, gore and chaos all wrapped up in sheer fun! While this looks like a somewhat toned-down version of those that came before the core fun should be intact.
Marvel’s Wolverine.
Everyone's favourite mutant the Wolverine is rumoured to be dropping later this year. We have a little bit of game play but Insomniac is developing so we can just leave it up to them. PS5 exclusive for now.
The Big Walk.
House House’s next project after the wildly successful Goose Game. Go on a walk with mates. Sounds simple, looks like a laugh. Coming soon
Over The Hill.
Indie developer Funskelektor Labs have this artistic, rustic off-roading adventure to be tackled alone or with friends. I believe it is releasing on PC and consoles but more to come soon.
Directive 8020
Supermassive Games next title in The Dark Pictures Anthology. This survival horror sees you trying to survive a shapeshifting alien enemy after you crash land on an alien planet. You’ll control five different characters and make decisions that will affect your outcome. Coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, trailers say early 2026 but no official date is given yet.
Forza Horizon 6
Who doesn’t love a Forza Horizon title. Just officially announced at last year's Tokyo game show, I don't expect to see it in 2026 but feel like we kinda need it. Set in Japan it looks to once again capture the essence of the location without needing it to be a full recreation.
Fable.
We can only hope can’t we. We’ve not heard much about the development of this one since Xbox dropped its last trailer and moved the release window from 2025 to 2026. We have all been screaming for a new Fable game since the last released in 2012 and I dare say we will be waiting another year at least. But I hold out hope that Xbox finds a place in its release schedule this year to drop it, provided it is ready to go. We wait with baited breath….
